THE LAB COMETH

Lab/startup/hackathon culture is something we’re truly passionate about, it’s why we do what we do – overcoming business constraints, using emerging tech and making ideas come to life fast. It’s fun, it’s progressive. That in mind, we’re going to show you how to make these things happen for you. Read on…

Given the above – it stands to reason that we throughly enjoyed Retail Week’s inaugural Hackathon at the Tech & Ecomms summit last week. It was a a great craic to be sure. Unfortunately we didn’t win, but happy 1st place went to some lovely Dutch innovators. Post hack was pretty interesting too – spinning out the sleep deprivation into an late night with some entrepreneurial types at the Great British Entrepreneur Awards, a trip to The Groucho Club where the joyous Noel Fielding directed us to the gents – and culminating in some dude’s restaurant eating fois gras at 5.00am (I didn’t eat it – just a heads up for those fois gras haters out there).

Hackathon’s are a hot bed for innovation and creativity, so it’s great to see them becoming more and more mainstream. Our processes of co-creation and ideation in major brands – and the rapid processes we use to prototype solutions align perfectly with the ideas central to hackathon culture.

We’ve started a Linkedin group dedicated to enabling this thinking to go viral, proliferating these ideas into cross organisational teams.

Employ lean/startup methodologies, hold your own hackathon, build Lab Culture into your business, and make things happen. If you don’t know where to start – we’ve got a present for you in the shape of our seven step guide to setting up and effecting Omnichannel R&D, embedding Lab Culture into your business.

Thanks you might say (our CX Director likes it if you say thanks after he gives away a shedload of career insight) but it gets even better – this seven step guide is just a tiny nugget. The fully fledged 60+ page report on Omnichannel R&D and Lab Culture will be released w/c 29th September 2014. If you want to be the first in the know and get your hands on a copy of either the seven step guide or full report – join the Lab Culture Linkedin Group and stay plugged in…
